Title IX and VAWA-Campus SaVE Act Resource Collection

Available Resources

On June 23, 2022, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) released proposed regulations related to Title IX that will govern how educational institutions conduct inquiries into allegations of sex discrimination, including student sexual misconduct. These proposed regulations are subject to a notice and comment period of 60 days. ED will review the comments it receives and, at some future point, publish the final regulations.

Because of an expected high volume of comments and possible court challenges, it may be a considerable time before ED implements the final regulations.

In the interim, institutions should continue to follow the current law and consult with legal counsel before making any changes to their policies or practices.

You can use the resources below to understand the proposed regulations, the problem of student sexual misconduct, and practices for preventing and responding.

Final Title IX Regulations

On May 6, 2020, ED released final regulations relating to Title IX and its governance of how institutions conduct inquiries into allegations of sex discrimination. Note: These regulations took effect Aug. 14, 2020.
