United Educators Appoints Alicia Williams VP of People and Culture

alicia-williams.jpgBethesda, Md., June 4, 2024 — United Educators (UE) insurance named Alicia Williams as Vice President of People and Culture. The role includes leadership of Human Resources and UE’s Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Alliance (IDEA), a grassroots workplace change initiative.

The newly formed department will help UE continue growing as an innovative workplace providing risk management and insurance for education.

“UE’s distinguishing assets are its people and culture,” said Richard Mills, UE’s President and CEO. “Alicia is the perfect fit for this new role. She’s a strategic thinker and superb communicator who delivers results by engaging our dynamic workforce.”

Alicia joined UE in 2013. As a senior counsel in the claims resolutions department, she managed catastrophic injury and sexual misconduct litigation involving UE members in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. In 2021, Alicia was promoted to lead a team of analysts who manage personal injury and employment claims.

Prior to joining UE, Alicia spent 10 years litigating tort and breach of contract cases at the trial and appellate level. She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Evelyn Omega Cannon.

Alicia attended North Carolina Central University as a Presidential Scholar and was Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper. She graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2002 and is admitted to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Before law school, Alicia was a general assignment reporter at the Raleigh News & Observer.
