Early reporting and active involvement by the institution and UE aressential for successful claims resolution. An institution that fails to meet the reporting responsibilities outlined in its insurance policy risks denial of coverage or loss of full benefits. Reporting considerations vary with the type of policy.
The United Educators (UE) team is committed to helping our members create a safe and respectful educational environment for students and educators. We believe that awareness of risks and resolutions facilitates the necessary steps to prevent incidents which may lead to claims. We encourage members to participate in the Risk Management Premium Credit (RMPC) program, which enables them to earn a discount on their renewal program by conducting specific risk management activities.
Members who carry a general liability (GL) or educators’ legal liability (ELL) policy with UE are eligible to earn an RMPC. This includes members with Community College Focus. The program does not apply to public K-12 schools or members with only a limited professional liability (LPL) policy or experiential student program (ESP) policy.
The Member Benefit Report enables members to check their RMPC progress and view all risk management activities in which their institution has participated.
The 2016 RMPC applies to renewals through April 30, 2017. Members have multiple options to earn a four percent discount on their renewal premium. Group purchasers are also encouraged to earn the RMPC. More than 50 percent of group members must complete one category of required activities to qualify. If a member has both a group policy and an individual policy with UE, the member must qualify individually. The group can then apply the individual member RMPC achievement to its group total and use it towards earning group credit. See program details below:
The 2017 RMPC applies to renewals beginning May 1, 2017. Members that buy policies from UE individually can earn a six percent premium credit, earned in two phases, as described below:
Members that purchase as part of a group can earn a four percent premium credit by completing activities explained here:
